Workwear Wednesday + 3 Tips to Stay Productive When You Are Unmotivated

For this month’s Workwear Wednesday post, I wanted to share a more business casual outfit and 3 tips that help me to stay disciplined and productive when I lose motivation.

In the spirit of living our loveliest life, I wanted to bring you a piece of advice that has helped me ever since I heard it. It may sound simple, but I think it’s a reminder that is always needed.

“You won’t always be motivated. You have to learn to be disciplined.”

Well, duh, we all know we need to be disciplined. But it’s definitely easier to say than do. So here are some tips that I have found helpful & do my best to implement:

5 SECOND RULE

Mel Robbins talks about this rule that will help launch you into a state of action.

Knowing what to do will never be enough.

Knowing why you need to do it will never be enough either.

So count to 5 or count down from 5 & just do it.

If you have an impulse to act on a goal, you must physically move within 5 seconds or your brain will kill the idea.

I’ve implemented this rule into my tasks at home & at work, & it has really done wonders. Just suck it up & get to it! (Apologies for the tough love haha).

Read more on this rule from Mel Robbins here .

HARDEST TASK FIRST

Once you get that monster of a task that you’ve been dreading out of the way, you will feel accomplished, proud, & like you can do anything! After that, any other task on your list will feel like a breeze & you’ll probably be happy to do it since you’ll feel like superwoman after finishing a hard task. You also won’t spend your entire day knowing that the hard task is coming up & dreading it all day.

So start your day with tackling the hardest task of the day first!

DON’T STOP

This might be a bit too much tough love, & maybe won’t work for everyone. But once you are on a roll & are being productive, don’t stop until you’re done.

Keep that momentum going & the productivity rolling!

I find that once I decide that I deserve a break, or need to take a minute to rest, I lose my mojo. Starting that productive & motivated momentum going again is hard. I mean, it’s hard enough starting with the first productive step of the day, so why put yourself through a second round of trying to re-motivate yourself after a mid-day break?

I hope you find these tips helpful for the start of a new week filled with new goals.

I’ll leave you with one more thing:

Don’t expect to see a change if you don’t make one.

Make sure you are the one running the day, instead of the day running you.

Now make that to-do list, prepare yourself mentally for a productive month ahead, & enjoy a cup of caffeine!

ABOUT THE OUTFIT:

You already know that I love a good blush and white combo.

It’s light, it’s fresh, it’s lady-like, and easy on the eyes – all perfect for a more casual office environment. It’s also great if you have a date with your Charming or a good friend after work!

Also, I want to make sure that we talk about the shoes.

These Sam Edelman heels are a bit on the pricey side ($100) but they are literally SO. GOOD.

Like, SOOOO good!

They are hecka comfortable! When I wear them to work, I have absolutely zero issues with them and can wear them all day long!

The heel is also not too big, which definitely helps the comfort level of the shoe.

Whether your office allows open toe shoes or not, these sandals are a staple for the summer time!
