Unique Mother’s Day Gift Guide

I don’t know about you, but every year my brain has to work overtime to think of gift ideas (for any holiday/occasion) that are more unique, within budget and thoughtful. It’s honestly a struggle to think of something besides perfume or a handbag.

Below is a list of a few Mother’s Day gift ideas that don’t include your typical items, however they can also be applied for a birthday, Christmas, or any other occasion.

mother's day unique thoughtful gift guide

TEA LOVER’S DREAM

A combination of this beautiful Bella kettle, a cute mug, and a fancy tea variety would make a cute little basket for a mom who loves her tea.

If she prefers coffee over tea, a nespresso machine would be a lovely (albeit pricier) addition to her kitchen countertop.

BEAUTY SLEEP

I don’t mean giving her a few hours to sleep in (although that might be nice too). Gifting a lovely silk pillowcase set (whether you want to shop luxury or luxury for less) with a sleep mist would end and start her day on a perfect note. I’m not a mom, but I sure do love how fancy I feel sleeping on a silk pillowcase. You can also add a luxury robe to the mix if you’d like to step up your game.

AN EXPERIENCE

For most moms, they don’t care about the gifts. They just want to spend more time with you. I know right now you can’t really take your mom out, but you can order a DIY candle making set and make them together. It’s a fun experience, a product that will remind her of you + the experience whenever she burns the candle, and it’s much more interesting than just having a meal together. If you don’t want to do this at home, get a gift certificate to a local candle making boutique and schedule a date to go once quarantine is over. Wax + Wine and Paddywax are two great places to go to if you’re in Philadelphia. Paddywax also has 11 other locations!

ENDLESS FLOWERS

This will be a sure hit because it’s a gift that keeps on giving. Plus, who doesn’t love flowers?! There’s a few different options for you in this category.

A flower subscription service can deliver fresh bouquets to your mom monthly and all year round. You can find this service offered by Urban Stems and Bouqs.

For the mom who loves to garden, instead of getting her a bouquet, get her a plant from a local garden center so that she can plant it in her garden. This way, it’ll last all season long rather than only a week. Better yet, find a perennial flower that will grow back every spring! Imagine how nice that would be!

A third option for endless flowers in your mom’s home is to get these roses than can last up to a year (sometimes more!). A few companies that offer this are Fleur de Paris, Eternal Fleur, The Royal Roses, and you can even find it on Amazon.

HER BEAUTY MUSTS

Is there a particular skincare product or lipstick that your mom adores? Buy it for her so that she is stocked up and doesn’t have to repurchase it herself. You already know she loves that one moisturizer she uses daily or that every day lipstick that gives her a pep in her step, so you know you’re gifting her something that she will love and use alll the time.

A SPA TREATMENT

If your mom loves a massage or a good manicure/pedicure session, get a gift certificate that helps her escape for an hour or two. Help her relax for a bit with this treat.

WHAT’S COOKING, GOOD LOOKING?

She’s been cooking for God knows how many years now. Think of all the times she probably thought to herself “What the heck do I cook this week?!”. Make it a little easier by ordering a meal prep subscription service for her. You’ll take the pressure off of her of thinking of new ideas and most of the meals offered by these services take only about 30 minutes of work. It’ll be easier on her and fun to try new recipes. Whether you decide to order from Hello Fresh, Every Plate, Green Chef, Home Chef, or any other company, they’re all pretty similar to each other.

I hope this gift guide inspired you in one way or another and gave you some fresh ideas. If you’re a mom reading this, I’d love to know what is on your wishlist! And if you have a great gift idea for your mom, be sure to let me know in the comments below as well!
