Favorite Philly Coffee Shops

Let’s talk about my favorite Philly coffee shops because this pandemic is making me miss sitting in my favorite places, sipping one of my favorite drinks (a latte), and doing my favorite activity (sipping on caffeine + enjoying a moment of peace).

REANIMATOR

They have 4 locations (Ludlow, Fishtown, Passyunk + Walnut Hill). I love the vibes of this place when I need a place to sit at a table and knock out some work. It’s my go-to Philly coffee shop for being productive. They are also a coffee roaster if you want to take some coffee home.

ELIXR

I love this coffee shop for whenever I want to work on something more creative. I don’t know what it is about them, but their shops always inspire me to be more artsy. Especially their location on Walnut & Sydenham in Center City. I used to work around the corner from them and would oftentimes spend my evenings there working on my passion projects after my 9-5 job. They also roast their own coffee and have 3 locations (two in Center City & one near University City).

KONDITORI

This is a super tiny Swedish-style coffee shop in Philly’s Financial District. It’s super minimal but that’s exactly what I love about it. It’s not a great place if you’re looking for a place to knock out work, but it’s perfect if you’re looking for a place to catch up with a girlfriend over coffee. It’s also a great coffee shop to stop into, order your drink, and then take it on-the-go as you explore center city.

MIEL PATISSERIE

If you’re looking for a cafe that will transport you to Paris, this is the spot. I love it’s European-style vibes and cute desserts. Their menu has sandwiches, croissants, pasties, chocolates, macarons, all the French fare. It’s also a great spot for to knock out some work or read a book. As for the coffee, they serve La Colombe.

FUNCTION COFFEE LABS

This is a cute coffee shop in Bella Vista with a super cute exterior! It’s on the smaller side, so it’s more of a “catch up with a girlfriend” kind of spot rather than a “let’s get some work done” kind of spot. Or just stop by for a caffeinated cup to take with you on-the-go! They serve roasts from their sister company, Vibrant Coffee Roasters.

CAFE LA MAUDE

This French-Lebanese cafe also serves breakfast and lunch at their European-style location in Northern Liberties. I feel bad hogging a table for hours here just to get work done on my laptop, so it’s more of a place where you can either have a little breakfast/lunch date with yourself or invite a girlfriend to catch up. It’s a great spot for a weekend brunch as well!

SHAKESPEARE & CO

Not only is this a coffee shop in Center City, but it’s also a bookshop! It’s European-style vibes make it a perfect spot to sit with a warm drink and get lost in a good book.

ICI MACARONS & CAFE

Ok, this little Philly coffee shop is my little hidden gem in one of my favorite neighborhoods, Old City. Up until this point, I only told my sister about this coffee shop because I love its intimate, quiet atmosphere and (selfishly) don’t want it to get too well-known so it can continue to be my little escape in Philly that not very many people know about. It’s my favorite coffee shop to hide away and get work done because it’s usually never crowded and pretty quiet. I love getting a latte, croissant and macarons to keep me company as I click away on my MacBook. As for the coffee, they serve Reanimator Coffee.

I’d love to know what your favorite Philly coffee shops are! Be sure to leave a comment below!
