Our First Home Renovation: Before & After Photos

I can’t believe I’m sharing this. I don’t know how people do home tours and share their homes because this feels very vulnerable to me. I love my home and every corner of it so it feels a little nerve-wrecking for me to share my little corner of the world.
But, nevertheless, let me introduce you to Our Lovely Rancher!
Throughout these photos, you’ll find that everything is super white and super neutral. It’s so hard for me to choose colors for my home that I’m going to love for years and years, so I just went with everything white and light and bright. That was pretty much my strategy for my home decor LOL
Also, I grew up with black furniture, so I was pretty sick of it and all the dust that darker colors can show. So that’s another reason I wanted everything to be white, so the dust isn’t as visible.

FRONT OF THE HOME

We wanted to remove the little mudroom/enclosed-porch/whatever-you-might-call-it from the front of our home and make it into an open front porch. Plus, this little room prevented the sunlight from shining into our living space so we wanted to remove it to add more natural light into the home.
Our front area isn’t quite finished yet in terms of landscaping, so keep an eye out on my instagram stories in the spring for updates!

LIVING & DINING ROOM

For the dining room window, we decided to take it out and make it into a french doors situation that walks into the sunroom (which we hope to renovate & expand in the next 1-2 years).
We also took down the wall to the right so create a more open atmosphere with the kitchen. This way, the living/dining space feels less closed up and stuffy.

KITCHEN

Taking down the wall between the kitchen and dining room helped us create more space for a large waterfall island, which is basically the statement piece in our home.
To better work with our kitchen layout, we decided it would be a good idea to remove the window above the sink. Some might value the sink window, but for our sunroom expansion plans it worked in our favor to remove the sink window.
We purchased the TSG Forevermark Uptown White cabinets from Kitchen Search.
Head to this post to see what organizers are in my cabinets.

BEDROOMS

Our cats have their own designated bedroom 😜

BATHROOM

I hope you enjoyed this little home reno recap!
I basically went with white, marble, and mirrors all over the house. This helped to tie all the fixtures together for us.
We also did recessed LED lights throughout the entire home except two of the bedrooms. As a blogger, good lighting was super important to me LOL
We do have fun plans to tear down our sunroom and expand it at some point, but that’s not for another year or two.
Let me know if you have any questions about our renovation!
