My Monday Musts

Mondays are one of my favorites. No Sunday Scaries here, most days 😉

But in order for them to be one of my favorites and to run smoothly, there are a few non-negotiables I have to start the week in the best way and make Mondays (and my week) as successful as possible.

A QUIET COFFEE

Probably my favorite time of day. A quiet coffee moment means you’re not running late, you are on your A-game, you get to enjoy and savor the delicious smell, you’re feeling calm, there’s a feeling of ambition in the air. You’re simply feeling fabulous about yourself. I love that feeling and I love this moment before a day officially begins, or as you’re powering up your computer.

CUTE + COMFY OOTD

Going about your day in an uncomfortable outfit is not going to make you feel the best about yourself. Even though you might look cute, that uncomfortable outfit might make you slightly more irritable. You might even end up taking that irritability out on someone who doesn’t deserve it. But when you are comfortable, you just feel good!

EAT HEALTHY

How cliche, right? But when you are fueling your body with healthy foods, you are feeling good. You can’t tell me that you feel motivated to tackle your day with McDonalds for breakfast and a greasy lunch. I’m not saying you should only be eating a sad salad for lunch. But a meal that is nutritious and excites you will give you the proper fuel to go about your day feeling your best, not low-energy and grouchy. An afternoon latte also helps sometimes 🤪

WEEKLY RESET

This is something that usually starts the Friday before my Monday, or I catch up on this on weekends if I’ve been too busy. I love taking some time to do a little digital cleanup to help organize anything from the prior week so that I have a clean slate for the new week ahead. I’ve spoken about this routine of mine heavily in a previous blog post so I won’t get into all the details right now, but be sure to check out the detailed list of my weekly reset here.

TAKE THE EVENING OFF

You need time off to avoid burnout. You’re not living to work, you’re working to live! I love an evening of doing absolutely nothing. Some nights I’ll go out and have myself an evening. But most nights, I’m having myself an evening at home, either on my porch enjoying a sunset or on my couch watching a show I love! The next morning, I’m ready to do it alllll over again!

___________

If I had written this post a year ago, I’d probably also add “an early bed time”.

If I had written this post 2 years ago, I’d probably also add “wake up early”.

But these days my sleep schedule and wake up time has been completely out of whack. Somewhere along the way I became a bit of a night owl, which of course makes it harder to wake up early. Plus, ever since I became pregnant, I am either feeling physically exhausted 24/7 or struggling with insomnia after waking up at 4am to tinkle, so I’ve been sleeping in a lot 😄
