Boston Travel Guide

At this point, I’ve been to Boston three times and can’t believe I’ve never provided a travel guide for this beautiful city! It’s one of my top 5 cities in the U.S. and you definitely need to add it to your bucket list as well.

I’ve travelled up to Boston twice in the winter time (so magical when it’s snowing!) and once in the summertime. I personally prefer it in the summertime, but it’s still quite lovely when it’s cold.

So let’s talk about some of my favorite spots in Boston!

WHERE TO EAT

NEPTUNE OYSTER – Boston has some fabulous seafood, and Neptune Oyster has some fabulous oysters to offer you! They have such a large variety of oysters, you’ll probably be overwhelmed, but don’t worry. Neptune Oyster makes it really easy for you to pick out which oysters you want because they have detailed descriptions about each type of oyster, which is so helpful! It’s a small little restaurant, but so cozy and so delicious. Try their Bluefin Crudo as well. It’s delish!

YVONNE’S – This is one of those restaurants where no matter what you order, you can’t go wrong. You’re pretty much guaranteed to go “OMG, this is so BOMBBBB!” after every item you order. Plus, the vibes of this place are so cool, you’ll want to snap photos of every corner for your instagram. A few of my favorite dishes from this spot are: Tico Tuna Crudo, Wild Gulf Shrimp, Octopus Toluca, Sujuk Stone Fried Pita, and their greek donuts for dessert are mouth watering! They also have a cocktail that is no longer on their menu but they can still make it for you if you ask., it’s called Remedy. If you like a French 75, you’ll like Remedy.

DECK 12 at YOTEL – This rooftop restaurant/bar is perfect for brunch, especially in the summertime. It has some stunning views of the city and the east river. I love their avocado toast (I know, basic, but good!) and their Shakshuka.

OLEANA – I love mediterranean food + this restaurant certainly hit the spot. It’s outside of Boston, but only about 30 minutes. It’s right near Harvard Square. If you’re into wine, you’ll love this restaurant because it’s one of its specialties! A few of my favorite dishes from here are: za’atar bread, fatteh, spinach falafel, and maine scallops. Their sticky toffee pudding is a FAB way to end your meal!

LINCOLN TAVERN + RESTAURANT – Located in South Boston, this place is perfect for a weekend brunch! The menu has so many great dishes to choose from and the fun vibes at this restaurant complete the entire experience.

PIER 6 – This waterfront restaurant was SO GOOD!!! The lobster, the oysters, phenomenal! Plus, the fact that it’s right on the water really elevates the experience! If there’s one restaurant you choose from this Boston travel guide, let it be this one. It’s *chef’s kiss*.

EXPLORE!

BOSTON COMMON + PUBLIC GARDEN – No matter if you’re visiting in the summer or winter, bring a blanket and a picnic basket here. Take a stroll and admire its beauty, find a quiet area under a beautiful tree, and park yourself there for a picnic and people watching. It’s all I want to do when I’m at this park.

HARVARD SQUARE – What a dream it would be to go to Harvard! So instead I just walk the streets of Harvard Square, enjoy its little shops, take a walk through campus, enjoy its architecture, and pretend I’m not actually a tourist but a Harvard student.

SHOPS ON NEWBURY STREET – Whether you’re looking to shop designer items or something less expensive, this street has a little bit of everything. I recommend starting at the intersection of Hereford + Newbury St (near the North Face store) and walking the seven blocks east until you reach the Boston Public Garden. Then, make your way back walking through the Commonwealth Avenue Mall, where there are so many gorgeous buildings (and cute puppies taking walks) to admire.

BEACON HILL – What an adorable neighborhood to take a stroll and walk off some calories after a brunch. You will “ooh” and “aah” at every home you see. It reminds me of Society Hill here in Philadelphia. So many historic and cute townhomes to admire.

WHERE TO STAY

MONEY SAVING TIP – I always book my hotels via the Hotel Tonight app. They give some really great discounts on gorgeous hotels. Use my code AVOTCHITS to get up to $50 back after your first Hotel Tonight booking.

BOSTON PARK PLAZA – I’ve stayed here twice now and have loved it each time. The rooms are great, the bathrooms are nice, the hotel in general is just beautiful and is in such a great location.

THE BOSTONIAN – This is another great hotel in a great location, right near Quincy Market. I’ve stayed here once with two girlfriends and loved it.

Ok, now I’m really missing Boston!

I hope you enjoyed reading this Boston travel guide! It’s truly such a beautiful, historic city full of cute corners to explore.
