Happy Fall, ya’ll! Just kidding, fall doesn’t start until October 1st for me LOL Even though it’s September, I am not letting go of summer just yet. But let’s look back on August and chat about my favorites from this past month….
Oh em gee, friend. I’ve been obsessed. I’ve loved them for a long time now, but this month was a whole new level. My sister and I took a roadtrip for a weekend in Charleston SC and feasted on oysters there. They were soooo delicious there! We tried out The Darling Oyster Bar and Leon’s Oyster Shop.
This month I finally committed to microblading. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while and have been saving for, but never actually committed to just yet. Until someone I met at a blogger event back in January 2020 posted that they are taking on clients. So I decided to message her, scheduled an appointment, and got my brows microbladed. I haven’t talked about it on my blog or instagram yet because I’ve been waiting until after my follow-up appointment (which is end of September) so I can tell you all about it from start to finish. But I thought I’d mention it as part of my favorites this month because it’s truly a life changing service. If you’re thinking about microblading, I had a wonderful experience with Alyssa. She’s in Delaware, but (in my opinion) worth the drive.
I wear this crewneck sweatshirt in white at least 1-2 times a week. It’s so soft inside, so cozy, and so cute! What more could you ask for?!
I can’t believe I am talking about this like all the other fangirls out there but I can’t not mention this album. I’ve always kept up with Taylor Swift’s music but was never the type of person to listen to her songs over and over again. However, this album is different. When we were driving to Charleston this month, I listened to the full album, some songs even repeatedly. I love how each song is basically a story that you are listening to. Listening to the lyrics while driving just made the drive even more enjoyable. If you’re curious, there’s also a bunch of fan theories about the songs.
Forsythia is one of my top 5 restaurants in Philadelphia. I love the food, the chef, the decor, the vibes, the staff. It’s all so lovely. I went to it on opening night in August 2019 and this past month they finally reopened after the quarantine lockdown with outdoor dining so I went to that opening night too. It was everything I’ve been missing this year. I’ve ordered take-out from there during quarantine but, although it was delish, it wasn’t the same as dining at the restaurant. So I’m very happy Forsythia has reopened for outdoor dining. I highly recommend this modern french spot in Old City.
In terms of any fails this month, I haven’t really had any. I’ve challenged myself to not buy anything in August that was unnecessary (like makeup, clothing, etc), which I did pretty well with. I did buy a souvenir in Charleston (some Kate Spade earrings) and a souvenir when I visited Albany NY for a weekend (a cute mug for my latte). I also had some credit with Fabletics so I ordered a pair of leggings + a top, but I don’t think that counts since I used my credit instead of actual money from my bank account. Besides that I did pretty well. I’m thinking of expanding this challenge into September but I’m not so sure because I’m really itching to buy something LOL I’ve been eyeing some fun pieces from H&M Home that I’m dying to order. But I’m trying to keep it cool. Hopefully that works out well…
I hope you had a lovely August. I’d love to know what you’ve been loving this past month!
